A high-profile investigation has been launched into allegations that two cops, one of them a bodyguard of a popular member of parliament (MP), are linked to a robbery which took place last month.

THE STAR understands that the incident reportedly occurred in Temple Hall, St Andrew. The police have arrested one of the cops and two other men in connection with the incident.

Superintendent Jacqueline Green, who is in charge of the St Andrew North Police Division, told THE STAR last night, that charges should have been laid against the men late yesterday.

Reports are that a man was held up and taken to his home, where he was robbed of laptops, cell phones and other electrical devices.

Further reports are that the police were alerted and the accused men were later apprehended in Golden Spring, also in the parish.

The police said that it was while the men were being interrogated that it was revealed that one of them is a cop.

Green said that she was unable to provide the specifics of the investigation at the time when she was contacted, however, she confirmed that the bodyguard of the MP is also being investigated.

"Yes, I can confirm that a police is in custody and two other men. Charges were to be laid against them this evening (Monday), but I would have to speak with the investigative officer. I cannot speak to the specifics of the case right now," Green said.
