Up to late yesterday detectives from the East Kingston division had still not made an arrest in connection with Thursday's shooting death of a man along a section of Sheffield Road, Kingston 2.
The deceased has been identified by police as 42-year-old Andrew Williams, otherwise called Max.
According to the police's Corporate Communications Unit, the information arm of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF), at approximately 2:05 p.m., Williams was walking along Sheffield Road where he was pounced upon by a man who opened fire hitting him several times, killing him on the spot.
Police said the unknown assailant then made good his escape on a motorcycle thereafter.
Subsequently, Williams was found lying face down with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The police were alerted and his was body removed.
The police said no motive for the shooting has not yet been established and investigations are still continuing with a view to making a breakthrough soon.
