Twin of Twins
One half of the Twin of Twins duo, Patrick 'Curly Lox' Gaynor, yesterday weighed in the mass rally that attracted a huge crowd in Half-Way Tree.
Gaynor spoke to THE STAR yesterday following Sunday's staging of the Jamaica Churches Action Uniting Society for Emancipation (CAUSE) mass rally.
The duo, who is known for their social commentary, took special care during the interview to note that the duo does not condone violence against any particular group, but they highlighted the importance of the voice of the masses.
"In the same way gay people have a right to express their views that has been over the years forcefully enforced, is the same right that straight people have to express their views and opinions in what is considered in some way a free country," he said.
Gaynor further said about the rally which attracted over 20,000 persons, in Half-Way Tree, St Andrew; "We (Twin of Twins) can applaud a move like this as long as it remains non-violent."
Following comments that Jamaica has moved past draconian approaches of inciting violence against the gay community, Gaynor added: "However, there are a few unscrupulous people in that community who are hell-bent on highlighting Jamaica in such a negative light, and they are not doing any good for their country."
He said that these persons are reaching out to the international community and making it appear as if Jamaicans are slaughtering them.
"The perception has changed long time, but they are trying to keep that old perception alive. We are appealing to the gay community to stop it, because it is not helping Jamaica," he said.
While not affiliated with any of the churches under the umbrella group, Gaynor reiterated that he and his brother, Paul 'Tu-Lox' Gaynor, will gladly participate in any other staging of a similar rally as long as it remains non-violent, and aligned with their objectives and beliefs.
