Spokesman for Campaign for Social and Economic Justice, Lloyd D'Aguilar, has blasted the mass rally spearheaded by the church group Jamaica Churches Action Uniting Society for Emancipation (CAUSE) for inciting violence.
"They cannot claim that the gay agenda intends to curtail their freedom of speech (without proof), and then use their own freedom of speech to spread hate and incite violence. By doing this they are in fact undermining their own freedom of speech," he said in a release to the media.

He also stated that it appeared that the group was preparing for war.
"I visited the rally at Mandela Park and the atmosphere (mostly the half-truths and twisted logic coming from the platform) felt like the beginning of a movement to prepare the groundwork for a fascist-like pogrom against gays," the release continued.
He maintained that the state should act responsibly and decisively and repeal the buggery law, demonstrating that gays are Jamaican citizens and human beings and should be protected from violence and discrimination.
He suggested that the Government should begin to look at legislation that curtails the incitement of violence against persons.

Meanwhile, Helene Coley-Nicholson, a member of the Jamaica Churches Action Uniting Society for Emancipation (CAUSE) Secretariat, has refuted claims made by D'Aguilar that church leaders were in effect spreading hate.
"Everybody that spoke yesterday (Sunday) spoke of love. The only language that was spoken was the language of love. We're not discriminating against anyone," she said.
Coley-Nicholson mentioned that entertainers Queen Ifrica and Tony Rebel were present and that prayers were said for them near the end of the rally.
"We had a special prayer for them declaring that Queen Ifrica would proclaim the kingdom of the one true God, but also prophesying over her life that she is going to do good things for the future," she said.
