A Portmore, St Catherine, licensed firearm owner who is accused of fatally shooting a dog that defecated on his lawn a month ago, was on Tuesday advised that he can reapply for his weapon to be given back to him until the case has been decided.
He is Devon Hall, a salesman of Greater Portmore.
When the case came up in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court, defence attorney Vincent Wellesley made a successful application.
He told the court that the nature of his client's job is one in which he needs to be in possession of his licensed firearm.
The Crown acceded to the request and advised the accused that he needs to get a letter to take to the police to secure the weapon.
Allegations are that on April 1, the dog was being walked in the Greater Portmore community when he defecated on the lawn.
The accused was angered by this action, and is said to have pulled his licensed gun and shot the animal, which is called Rusty, to death.
