A British mother and daughter accused of using a bogus credit card to fund a two-night stay at a hotel located in Kingston were further remanded in custody when they appeared before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Charged with obtaining credit by fraud are a 38-year-old woman and her 17-year-old daughter. Both pleaded not guilty to the offence.

Allegations are that on October 8, the two checked into the hotel and spent two nights at the establishment, benefiting from meals amounting to US$1,600 (approximately J$180,000) using the counterfeit credit card. It is reported that at that time, the hotel manager discovered that the credit card was forged and alerted police personnel.

Subsequently, detectives attached to the Fraud Squad arrested and charged Mulrain and her daughter for the offence on October 11.

Resident Magistrate Simone Wolfe-Reece ordered both accused to reappear in court on October 21 for trial.
