A man who is accused of stealing another's cellular phone after he loaned it to him to make a phone call is to return to court on June 12 when surveillance footage allegedly pinning him to the crime will be shown.
Charged with larceny by trick is 52-year-old Hartley Lewin of a Mannings Hill Road, Kingston address.
It is alleged that on December 3, Lewin entered the Treasure Hunt Gaming Lounge in New Kingston and borrowed the complainant's phone to make a call, but left without returning the phone to the complainant.
On May 26, the complainant saw the accused in Half-Way Tree and summoned the police.
But the accused told the court that he knew the complainant and was given the phone as payment for fixing a damaged computer screen.
The complainant denied knowing the accused, but stated that he was a regular visitor at the Gaming Lounge.
"I don't know what he's talking about. I work at Treasure Hunt, I always see him at the Gaming Lounge. I work at the bar and he borrowed my phone."
To which Lewin responded, "No, I don't even know where that is. Mi nuh know New Kingston, I am a Christian, I go to church."
But Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey declared however, "but they have you on camera, leaving the premises."
Lewin is to return to court on June 12 for sentencing.
