A St Catherine man who allegedly sold a car which had fraudulent documentation was remanded when he appeared in court despite a lengthy bail application by his attorney in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.
Neil Fearon, 38-year-old labourer, of Banbury, district, near Linstead, St Catherine, was remanded after the clerk of courts revealed that he committed the offence while on bail for a charge of murder.
His lawyer, Vincent Wellesley, told the court that his client was not yet charged with murder in 2011 when he reportedly committed the offence.
He showed the court receipts that his client had in fact bought the vehicle legally, and sold it to someone else who sold the complainant.
Wellesley told RM Lyle Armstrong that Fearon was not a flight risk. Howver, RM Armstrong told the court she was not satisfied and that it was a serious offence for which the accused was charged.
It is alleged that the accused reportedly sold a vehicle to a man who found out that the chassis number was tampered with and that two similar cars had the same number.
He contacted the Flying Squad and an investigation was launched, during which the accused turned himself in for questioning and was subsequently charged with being in possession of criminal property.
He is booked to reappear in court on June 20 when the matter will again be mentioned.
