The police in St Catherine are still searching for a man who allegedly fired a licensed firearm in an illegal manner, while the owner of the weapon has been arrested on suspicion for aiding and abetting.
The Star was informed that the incident occurred about 9 p.m. last Friday, near Old Harbour in St Catherine.
It is reported that the man who escaped was given the weapon which he fired and returned to the owner, who simply placed it in his waistband.

A policeman, who was nearby, saw what occurred, went over and identified himself while making his observation known to the owner.
It was then that the other man ran away from the scene and escaped in the area.
The owner was held and the weapon taken from him. Further checks revealed that he also owns another weapon.
This weapon was also confiscated when the police searched his home.
Meanwhile, the police said the owner is facing charges of aiding and abetting, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition , and firing a weapon within 40 feet of a public thoroughfare.
Police have withheld his name until he is properly questioned in the presence of an attorney.
It was also revealed that the practice of licensed firearm holders giving their weapons to anyone without a permit to fire is an offence under the Firearms Act.
