Stolen vehicles found in St Catherine

An investigation has been launched to locate persons responsible for the theft of a number of motor vehicles found in Hartlands district, St Catherine, yesterday.


The breakthrough was made by members of the St Catherine North,the Mobile Reserve and the Jamaica Defence Force during an intelligence driven operation.


The team recovered 10 motor vehicles, nine of which were totally scrapped located in bushes in the farming community.


Reports are that about 10:15 a.m., the police/military operation was conducted in the area.


During the search, the stolen vehicles were located in a wooded area. They were mostly late models such as 2012 Hiace, Rav4 and Corollas and were found in various stages of being scrapped.


There were engine parts and light fixtures strewn about the place with the vehicles cut in pieces.


The police told The Star that one of the three Rav4 Sports Utility Vehicle recovered was reported stolen last week Tuesday in Spanish Town, St Catherine.


The investigation is being conducted by the Spanish Town Criminal Investigation Branch.


No one was held in connection with the find which is estimated at $40 million.
