Sixteen wanted men have been arrested and charged for a number of serious crimes committed across the Kingston Eastern Division, the Corporate Area and St Catherine since the start of the year.
The men were all taken into custody incident free.
Six home-made firearms, two Taurus 9 mm pistols and twenty-four 9 mm rounds of ammunition have also been removed from the streets of the Kingston Eastern Division making it safer for its citizens.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) and Crime Officer for the Division, Christopher Brown, stated that "the policemen and women of the division remain committed to offering quality service and to creating safer communities.
He is also imploring persons who are wanted for various crimes to turn themselves in peacefully and avoid confrontation with the police. He is also appealing to relatives not to expose themselves to danger by harbouring unlawful individuals, but instead to "tell what you know, the life you save might be your own."
Anyone with information that can assist the police is being asked to call the Elletson Road police at 928-4200, Crime Stop at 311, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
Persons may also anonymously give information using the Stay Alert App that can be accessed free of cost through the Unite for Change website at uniteforchangejm.org or through the Google Play Store.
