Despite receiving a post-mortem report that said her son died of heart failure and not injuries to the head as was alleged by residents, the mother of 24-year-old Jamar Ludford is still demanding answers about the circumstances surrounding her son's death.
Last month, THE STAR spoke with 57-year-old Pastor Stanley Williams of the Manger Tabernacle Evangelistic Association in Downer district, Clarendon, after he was accused by residents of hitting the deceased in the head, killing him.
According to Williams, on January 13, about 3:30 a.m, the deceased, who he claimed suffered from epilepsy, visited the church seeking assistance and during an epileptic seizure, slipped and fell on stones in the churchyard, injuring himself.
He was taken to the Lionel Town Hospital where he later died.
Epilepsy
The deceased's mother, however, told THE STAR that her son did not suffer from epilepsy and stated that she believes her son was assaulted.
"My son doesn't have epilepsy or any other illness. the last time I saw him was Grand Market and he was fine, to me his face was smashed in and blood was coming from his nose."
She also stated that church members are hiding the truth about what happened to her son, "the members know what was going on and nobody saying anything. my son couldn't just drop down twice and nobody take him to the hospital same time."
When asked if her son ever told her about any suspicious activities occurring at the church, she told THE STAR, "he didn't tell me about anything weird happening at the church, he just used to talk about God."
The mother of 11 is hoping that she will get answers from the pastor or members, but for now is resolved to planning her son's funeral.
Williams told THE STAR that he was aware of the post-mortem results and says he feels vindicated.
"I heard that he died of a heart attack and I knew I didn't do what they (residents) say I did."
Jamar Ludford is scheduled to be buried early next month.
