MAN DRESSED AS WOMAN ASSAULTS POLICEMAN

A delivery man dressed like a woman who allegedly assaulted a policeman is expected to be sentenced in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court today.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm, disorderly conduct, assaulting constable, malicious destruction of property, escaping custody and resisting arrest is Michael Evans, whose fingerprints were taken.

The court heard from the accused who was apprehended by the police while in female clothing and a wig. He told the court that he was doing a delivery for his mother when upon reaching Devon House, St Andrew, he was spotted by windshield wipers, who he claimed threatened him.

He was rescued by the police and taken to the New Kingston Police Post. Evans said that while there, he fled the police's custody twice. He said he ran to a location nearby and was brought back to the station by the police.

Evans accused the police of making a mockery of him as he was dressed in female garments. It is said he hit a policeman and tore his clothing.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey is expected to sentence Evans today.
