A Jamaican national was yesterday fined in a Barbadian court after passing out a quantity of ganja, following his arrival at the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) in the island recently, THE WEEKEND STAR has learnt.
Charged with possession of cannabis, possession with intent to supply, trafficking and importation of cannabis is 26-year-old Kenton Roy Campbell.
According to Nation News, on January 28, it is believed that Campbell arrived at the airport in Bridgetown, Barbados, on a flight from Jamaica. Subsequent to an interview by Barbadian police personnel, Campbell was taken to hospital where it is alleged that he passed 40 packages of marijuana with a total weight of one pound.
In court, Campbell was reportedly ordered by the sitting magistrate to pay a fine of B$10,000 (approximately J$577,000) or serve one year in prison for importation, but was reprimanded and discharged on the other charges laid against him.
