The Spanish Town police in St Catherine have launched an investigation into the death of a man who was allegedly beaten by several persons along Old Harbour Road in the parish yesterday.

Dead is Gary Dawkins, affectionately called Scarface, a 42-year-old cabinetmaker/taxi driver from Old Harbour Road.

Police reports are that Dawkins was beaten by persons, including a woman, following a dispute about 2 a.m.

He was reportedly taken to hospital and transferred to the Kingston Public Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries about 12:30 p.m. yesterday.

Investigators have since taken a male and a female into custody and are searching for an another male suspect.

The police have not established a motive for the attack, and have withheld the names of those arrested pending further investigations.
