One thousand US dollars is being sought to purchase a crown for Miss Universe Jamaica, Kaci Fennell, who placed fifth recently at the Miss Universe pageant.
The account was created on the popular crowd-funding site gofundme.com on January 26, and has so far raised US$100 or J$11,500.
The account was created by Canadian Lawrence 'Captain Charley' Leung, and is titled 'Let's Buy Miss Jamaica A Crown.'
Leung states his reason for seeking donations to purchase Fennell a crown is because of the public outcry about her placement in the competition.
The wording on the site states: "On January 25, 2015, the audience booed the judges' decision on crowning the new Miss Universe, making it known that crowd favourite Miss Jamaica, Kaci Fennell, 4th runner-up placement wasn't good enough. This is reflected upon tens of thousands of upset fans on Twitter with #MissJamaicaShouldHaveWon trending, following the conclusion of the pageant.
Indeed, Miss Jamaica showed poise, confidence, intelligence and, of course, her unconventional beauty with her short hair and strikingly beautiful face.
Let's buy Miss Jamaica an honorary crown! We are hoping to collect $1,000 USD, or more, so we can offer it to Uzuri International, franchise owner of the Miss Universe Jamaica Organisation, to express our support.
Note: We are not taking anything away from the actual winner, who is indeed beautiful. We just want to show Miss Jamaica some love."
The account has received over 800 shares on Facebook and has so far received only one donation, which was done by the account's creator.
On January 25, in Doha, Florida, 22-year-old Paulina Vega, Miss Colombia, walked away with the Miss Universe 2015 crown.
While Vega was being crowned, some of the contestants surrounded Fennell, hoisted her in the air and chanted, 'Miss Jamaica' expressing their disagreement with the judges' decision to not give her the crown.
