Slapped with wounding charge

Romani 'Status' Williams, a recent contestant in a television talent show, was granted bail when he appeared in court recently on a wounding charge.
Status, who was a contestant on the Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall Competition a few months ago, was granted bail in the sum of $100,000 when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court. He had been charged with felonious wounding.
The entertainer is alleged to be one of two persons who attacked and stabbed a man whom was accused of being a thief.
The court heard that in early June, the complainant was walking in a section of Waterford, Portmore, St Catherine, when he was accused of stealing a cellular phone.
It is reported that a physical confrontation ensued which involved Williams, a female and the complainant. During confrontation, the man was stabbed in the upper body.
He was taken to hospital where he was admitted for six days. The entertainer who is the son of deejay Mega Banton was charged by Detective Constable Melonie Williams of the Waterford Police Station.
When he appeared in court he was represented by attorney-at-law, Michael Jordan.
