COPS DELIVER BABY IN BATHROOM

Members of the St Catherine North Street Crime Unit are receiving praises from a number of residents and visitors to the Old Capital after they safely delivered a baby in a bathroom at the Spanish Town bus park.


The policemen were on duty in the area about 8 p.m. when they were alerted to a female under distress in the public bathroom. The team of six police personnel then took off on foot to the scene.


Upon their arrival, the woman was observed to be in labour. The police set about rendering first aid, and eventually they successfully delivered a bouncing baby boy.

As the newborn and parent were taken to hospital for full rest and recovery, persons sang their praises and astonishment on how helpful the police could be.


''Lawd, me never believe dat the police could a make a safe delivery of pickney. But now mi haffi look pon dem differently, dem have use man,'' a female bystander said.


Meanwhile, members of the crime-fighting team which responded told The Star that all personnel have received training in first aid and should be ready if again the need arises.
