Woman accused of using acid on complainant remanded

The accused woman who allegedly burned a female complainant with a corrosive substance was remanded in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm are Stacy-Ann McCloud and her boyfriend Rohan Cross.

A medical report remains outstanding.

The Crown alleges that on the day of the incident, a dispute involving McCloud and the female complainant ensued. This resulted in Cross holding on to the complainant which resulted in the accused allegedly dousing her with a corrosive substance from a Magnum bottle.

This caused injuries to the neck and back of the complainant.

In court, when the issue of the accused receiving bail was raised, the prosecution argued that it should be refused, since it was believed that the accused had fled the jurisdiction and had been on the run.

However, her attorney, CJ Mitchell, strongly contested this.

His client was subsequently remanded until May 7, and Cross' bail was extended.
