A St Catherine man who allegedly chopped and stabbed a man in his sleep more than 20 times was remanded on wounded charges when he appeared in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court.
He is Becole Assok.
When the matter came up it was revealed that on April 7 the complainant was at home when he was awoken by a heavy weight on his chest and realised that it was the accused man armed with a chopper and a pair of scissors who was stabbing and chopping him repeatedly in his head and upper body.

After the ordeal, the accused ran and the complainant was hospitalised for 13 days in the Kingston Public Hospital.
The accused was subsequently held and charged with assault and wounding with intent.
In court the complainant revealed his frightening experience: "Your honour, mi believe a dream mi did a dream when mi feel the weight pan top of me but when him wake me up and him start to chop me, then mi realise the reality. Him stab me over seven times inna mi back and a whole heap a time inna mi head."
He told the court the accused was friendly with his niece and that he went to the house trying to protect her, when the accused man who was hiding inside attacked him.
Despite a lengthy bail application, the resident magistrate told the defence attorney that he was not minded at this time to grant bail in the matter. Assok returns to court on May 14 when the matter will again be mentioned.
