Fashion designer, Calvin Haye, has started legal proceedings against the State for what he has deemed as false imprisonment and malicious prosecution.
Haye, who is also known as Moonie, was charged jointly with entertainer Vybz Kartel. He was freed on November 14 after the prosecution said it had no evidence against him.
Haye claimed that his constitutional rights were breached by the State and therefore is seeking damages to repair his character.
According to his lawyer Sean Kinghorn, a formal letter outlining the case has been sent to Attorney General Patrick Atkinson and they are seeking a reply within 21 days to see if the matter can be amicably dealt with.
