Prominent attorney Michael Lorne has been slapped with fraud charges. According to the Jamaica Constabulary Force's Corporate Communications Unit, Lorne was charged with fraudulent conversion, forgery, uttering forged documents and conspiracy to defraud.
He was picked up around 1 p.m., yesterday afternoon.
Lorne is currently the attorney for the Office of the Public Defender in the West Kingston Commission of Enquiry.
The allegations are that he sold a jointly held property located in East Kingston between 2010 and 2011 for approximately $6 million.
It is further alleged that he failed to turn over part of the proceeds to a woman.
The matter was reported to the Fraud Squad and Lorne was arrested and charged.
He was offered bail and is scheduled to be brought before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.
