The St Thomas police have taken one man into custody in relation to the murder of 14-year-old Kayalicia Simpson of the Newlands Housing Scheme in St Thomas on Tuesday.
Information received is that about 6:30 a.m., Kayalicia's body was found near her home with several chop wounds.
The identity of the man in custody is being withheld as the police continue to follow leads in their murder investigation.
They are also appealing with anyone that may have information on the incident to contact the Yallahs police at 982-5075, Crime Stop at 311, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station. Persons may also give information using the Stay Alert App, which is a mobile application that can be accessed free of cost through the Unite for Change website at uniteforchangejm.org or through the Google Playstore.
