Man faces court for shoving woman

A man was hauled before the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Wednesday, after he shoved a woman to the ground in a wholesale store.

Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Bing Ten.

The Crown alleges that the accused pushed the complainant to the ground causing her to hit her lower back which resulted in swellings and pain.

The woman told the court that she had just purchased goods from a wholesale, and while there checking her goods, Ten entered the establishment smoking. The female complainant claimed she addressed Ten about smoking as it had bothered her, however, an argument between them soon developed.

During the altercation, the complainant knocked a cigarette from Ten's hand resulting in him pushing her to the ground.

Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey asked the complainant what she could do to make her happy, but the attorney representing both parties could not agree on a figure for compensation for the complainant and as a result the matter was ordered to trial for April 7.
