Kemoy 'Night and Day' Tummings, an alleged member of the Clansman gang, was arrested and charged last Tuesday by the St Catherine South police after facing an identification parade.
Tummings was on the police's 'Most Wanted' list for more than a year, for two separate murder matters, for which he had faced identification parades, but was not pointed out. However, he faced a third, for the April 7, 2014, gun incident involving the police in Greater Portmore, and was positively identified.
Tummings' lawyer, Christopher Townsend, had argued that his client should not have faced a third identification parade, and was initially successful in him being offered bail, pending the verification of his address.
However, the third parade was subsequently held, resulting in Tummings' arrest for escaping an April 7 police dragnet involving the St Catherine South police and the division's Fugitive Apprehension Team.
Superintendent Terrence Sanko of the St Catherine South police yesterday said the alleged Clansman gang member "was arrested and properly charged", and should appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
"Residents are sometimes fearful of reprisals after ID parades. However, our personnel have no fear in confronting gang members on the streets or in pointing them out," a police source from the division told THE STAR.
