A man who pleaded guilty to breaching a Protection Order was fined $10,000 or three months' hard labour in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Clive Green, 47-year-old labourer of Ewarton district, St Catherine, pleaded guilty when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Horace Mitchell.

He agreed that he visited the complainant's house on November 11. However, this was after he was asked a favour by someone else. Resident Magistrate Mitchell then informed the accused that he would have to pay the maximum fine.

The complainant took out the order against Green on May 13 last year after the accused, with whom she had a previous relationship, constantly plagued her with threatening phone calls.

It was revealed that on one occasion, he called the woman 24 times in one night.

Green is to reappear in court on January 19 to answer to a case of assault occasioning bodily harm, allegedly committed against the complainant.

He was not represented when he appeared in court.
