A St Catherine man who allegedly killed a dog and sprinkled its blood in an act of sacrifice was remanded for psychiatric evaluation when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.
Dayton Powell of Kitson Town, St Catherine, who is on a charge of cruelty to animal, admitted to killing the dog and sprinkling its blood inside a house.
Allegations are that in December last year, the accused reportedly tied up a dog, slit it open, removed the heart, placed it in a refrigerator and then sprinkled the animal's blood on bones inside his house.
Resident Magistrate Horace Mitchell asked the accused if he killed other animals for the purpose of sacrifice, and he replied yes.
"A kill the dog as a sacrifice, your honour," Powell said.
He was then ordered remanded until February 3 when the matter will again be mentioned.
A report was made to the Guanaboa Vale police station.
Following an investigation, he was charged with cruelty to animal.
