The acting principal of the central Jamaica-based high school embroiled in controversy surrounding sexually explicit photos has resigned.
The chairman of the school board informed The STAR yesterday that the board received a letter of resignation recently.
He said the board that was to meet yesterday morning to deliberate on the acting principal's fate, but instead accepted the letter of resignation.
The chairman said the resignation took effect on December 31, 2014.
Meanwhile, parents and students gathered outside the school's gate Friday morning in anticipation of the outcome of the meeting.
An education ministry official told our news team earlier this week that, with schools set to re-open from the Christmas break on Monday, a decision had to be made quickly.
The board chairman says steps will now be taken to sensitise the school's population regarding the issue.
Speaking on Nationwide Radio on Tuesday, he confirmed that he was in the pictures, but said the photos were tampered with.
It is understood that the photos were made public earlier this month, after the principal's cell phone allegedly went missing.
