A man who had an altercation with his former girlfriend about a phone conversation that resulted in him injuring her was ordered to compensate her in the sum of $15,000 in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court.
Charged with assault occasioning bodily harm is Richard Campbell.
The Crown alleges that the complainant, who was in a verbally abusive relationship with Campbell, had a confrontation about a phone conversation.
Had bruises
The accused became upset and grabbed the woman by her throat and hit her. He also threatened to kill her. She then had to escape through a bedroom window after realising she had bruises to her upper lip.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey ordered that he brings $15,000 for the complainant's pain and suffering and the money she lost while being absent from work.
The matter is to be mentioned on October 6.
