Dispute involving broadcaster set for mediation

The complainant in the case against broadcaster Michael Sharpe has agreed to go through mediation with the matter.

The decision was arrived at when the case was mentioned in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Senior Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green ordered that both parties get counselling and return to court on November 18, when the matter will again be mentioned.

Allegations are that in December 2012, Sharpe who is also a district constable, was driving along the Hellshire main road in St Catherine. He reportedly intervened in a dispute between a man and a woman, during which the woman claimed that she was physically assaulted.

A report was made and an investigation was launched which resulted in the director of public prosecutions ruling that Sharpe be charged with assault.
