Six men were arrested and several thousand United States dollars seized in separate incidents at the country's two international airports between last Thursday and Saturday, police have confirmed.
Three of the men were arrested on Thursday at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston following investigations that were launched when immigration officers contacted detectives from Major Organised Crime and Anti-Corruption Task Force (MOCA) and the Flying Squad, reporting that a United States (US) citizen had been intercepted transporting cash.
On Saturday, the police said another US national who was allegedly lured to the island by scammers was intercepted at the Sangster International Airport in St James and MOCA's Lottery Scam Task Force contacted. A sting operation was carried out, which resulted in the arrest of three Trelawny men.
Police said the men, whose ages range from 18 to 37 years, remain in custody and will be questioned in the presence of their attorneys this week.
