Human remains found in manhole

Bones and skull found at treatment plant

A large crowd reportedly gathered in front the Bridgeport Sewage Treatment Plant on Germain Road, Bridgeport, Portmore, St Catherine yesterday, after human remains were found on the premises.

Information reaching The STAR is that around noon yesterday, workers from the National Water Commission, which operates the treatment facility, came across the remains in a manhole and notified the police.

An officer at the Bridgeport Police Station told The STAR that the body was badly decomposed and all that remained were bone fragments and a skull.

The officer stated that they were able to identify the remains as a male, because of the clothing, "We think that it is a man because it had on pants and a shirt."

The remains were removed for tests to be conducted to ascertain the cause and time of death.

The Bridgeport police are currently investigating.
