Wannabe criminal flees with cronies

A female who disarmed a gunman who attempted to rob her recently is being praised by several persons for her bravery.


The incident is reported to have happened on Wednesday on Brunswick Avenue, Spanish Town, St Catherine.


Reports are that the woman had just completed a transaction when one of four men followed her to an area that was a bit secluded. It is said that one of the men brandished a firearm and demanded that the woman hand over her money to him.


He was however in for a surprise as the alert female is said to have grabbed on to the slim built robber. The gun is said to have been wrestled from him.


Ran leave weapon


Further reports are that the gunman and his three colleagues ran leaving the weapon behind much to the delight of persons who saw what was happening.


"Da woman deh tough and she really active fi so thick in har body and the boy lucky or else she woulda give him a sound beating. A one of the fastest man mi ever see run through the traffic, him mek Yohan Blake look like boy," a female said.


Meanwhile, the Spanish Town police told THE STAR the man was held in a neighbouring community and is now in their custody.


They also commended the bravery of the female in helping to remove another illegal weapon from the hands of criminals.
