The St Catherine north police had to intervene yesterday after the vice-principal at a high school was allegedly beaten with a board by a male student.
Reports are that about 9 a.m. the third form boy was seen without his uniform badge.
He was reprimanded by the teacher and told to return home for it.
However, it is reported that the 15-year-old got into a fit of anger and used a piece of board to reign blows on the man.
The vice-principal was rescued by his colleagues and the police summoned.
After arriving at the institution the student was held and taken to the station on suspicion of unlawful wounding. Up to press time he was not charged.
Attempts to get a comment from the school proved futile.
The incident is the second act of violence committed against a teacher on the school compound in recent months. In December another teacher was attacked by a student who punched and kicked him repeatedly.
