Oliver Aldred, a bee farmer from Clarendon who pleaded guilty to stealing 10 boxes of bees in the parish, is to return to the May Pen Resident Magistrate's Court on June 4 for sentencing.
Charged with receiving stolen property and simple larceny, Aldred, on the advice of his attorney, pleaded guilty to the former charge and was granted bail in the sum of $500,000, with conditions on the other.
Resident Magistrate Stephanie Orr ordered that the 10 boxes of bees be returned to the owner and that Aldred stay away from the vicinity of the complainant's home and workplace.
In addition, he should report to the May Pen Police Station two times per week.
Deputy Superintendent Kevin Francis is appealing to the public to assist the police by reporting all cases of praedial larceny.
"We want the farmers to report all cases of theft to the police stations so we can act on those reports, furthering the investigations and ensuring that justice is served on their behalf," the Praedial Larceny Prevention Coordinator told The Star.
"If they do not want to pass on the information directly to the police, they can call 311 Crime Stop to make the report anonymously. We will receive the information and be able to act on it."
