Three women were arrested at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St. James on Friday, after they were held with cocaine, police have reported.
Six pounds (3 kilograms) of cocaine were seized during the incident, which was carried out by officers attached to the Transnational Crimes and Narcotics Division (TCND). Police identified those arrested as 42-year-old Michelle Pearson who arrived at the airport to board an American Airlines flight to Miami; and 40-year-old Tricia Cunningham Fray and 40-year-old Erica Wilson who were to board flights to New York.
According to the police, The three women were each accosted and searched and the cocaine with an estimated street value of J$3.6 million found.
All three females are scheduled to appear in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Thursday to answer to charges of possession, dealing in and attempting to export cocaine.
