A number of residents were left homeless after fire of unknown origin gutted board houses in a tenement yard along St James Street in Kingston, yesterday afternoon.
When THE STAR arrived on the chaotic scene about 4:45 p.m., residents were shouting atop their voices, some about the loss of personal items, while others shouted accusations about who they believed was responsible for the blaze.
According to the residents, the son of one of the persons who suffered loss in the fire, could be the person responsible for the blaze.
Two fire trucks assisted by fire crew from Rollington Town and York Park fire stations were on the scene combating the blaze and provided cooling-down operations.
A male resident informed THE STAR, "Mi nah lie, di man and woman dem work and catch water and help control the fire before the fireman dem reach."
The residents said the victims of the blaze lost important documents and electronic equipment.
The Kingston Central police are investigating.
