WESTERN BUREAU:

The case against a St James man who is accused of robbing a police constable and a civilian earlier this month has been deferred to November 10 following the absence of the civilian complainant from court on Monday.

Kino Beadle, who is of a Montego Bay address, and who is charged with robbery with aggravation, had his bail extended when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court.

Cellular phones

It is alleged that, sometime in early August, the constable and the civilian were sitting together along Gloucester Avenue in Montego Bay when Beadle and another man approached them and held them up at knifepoint. The men proceeded to rob the couple of their cellular phones and J$3,500 in cash, before fleeing the area.

On Monday, the court was told that the police complainant was present, but the civilian witness was absent due to work constraints.

Resident Magistrate Carolyn Tie subsequently set the case to be mentioned on November 10 and extended Beadle's bail to that date.
