Cops probe Lady Musgrave Road shooting

The Matilda's Corner police are probing the circumstances surrounding a shooting incident that took place along Lady Musgrave Road, St Andrew, yesterday.


Reports reaching our news desk are that a man, believed to be the warehouse manager at a popular Asian fast-food restaurant on Lady Musgrave Road, was shot and injured by a gunman on foot.


The police's Corporate Communications Unit (CCU) confirmed the reports, stating that the incident took place shortly after 11 a.m. yesterday.


Witnesses on the scene told THE WEEKEND STAR that a woman, believed to be a co-worker of the victim, could be heard screaming for help as she attempted to fight off the assailant. Shortly afterwards, explosions were heard. It was later revealed that the restaurant employee was shot.


"If a did somebody weh did a ride a bicycle, it wouldn't so bad, but pon foot, and him get weh?" a female bystander, peeved by the incident, said to our news team.


According to witness reports, robbery may have been the motive behind the shooting, as the gunman allegedly made off with a bag belonging to the victim.


Detectives on the scene, who were still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident, said the victim was rushed to hospital for treatment.


Up to press time, the condition of the man remained unknown. Investigations continue.
