A man accused of injuring his month-old baby and its mother, was remanded when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.
He is Jevaughn Muir, a 27-year-old labourer from Kitson Town district in St Catherine.
When Muir appeared before Resident Magistrate Vaughn Smith, it was revealed that the child had suffered head injuries and needed further medical assessment. The accused was then ordered remanded until April 15 when the matter will again be mentioned.
Argument
Allegations are that on March 19, 2014, Muir was at home in the company of his child's mother and the infant. An argument developed between him and the woman. A fight reportedly ensued and he started hitting the woman who reportedly had the child in her arms.
The child reportedly fell during the confrontation and suffered injuries. The mother also suffered injuries to her ear, nose and mouth.
A subsequent report was made to the Guanaboa Vale Police Station and following an investigation, Muir was arrested and charged with assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.
