The police officers who were involved in Saturday's incident in which a woman was fatally shot in central Kingston have been removed from front line duty and transferred from the Kingston Central Division.
Forty-four-year-old Jacqueline Stone of Oxford Street in Kingston was shot and killed during a police operation in the central Kingston area.
In a release yesterday, the police's Corporate Communication Unit (CCU) says the Police High Command has also issued instructions to the management team of the police division to evaluate how patrols are done to ensure they are conducted in a non-intimidating manner.
The CCU says the division's management team will also look at all police activities to ensure they engender confidence in the lawmen and reassure citizens of their commitment to protecting the lives and livelihoods of residents of the Kingston Central Division.
According to the CCU, the police are cooperating fully with the Independent Commission of Investigations, which is probing the matter.
On Saturday, Member of Parliament for Central Kingston, Ronnie Thwaites, said Stone's killing was a murder and that by all indications the police were responsible.
He warned that incidents like Stone's killing could fracture relations between communities and the police.
