Bail denied for woman on fraud charge

Bail was denied in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Wednesday to a woman who is alleged to have tendered false documents in order to secure bail on the behalf of an individual.

Charged with conspiracy to defraud, uttering false declaration and forgery is 37-year-old Jullian Brooks.

The Crown alleges that, on January 22, the accused went to the Supreme Court in an attempt to secure bail on behalf of a man, but tendered an identification card and a house title under a fake name.

The clerk of court carrying out due diligence noted that the identification card and house title were forged, and the police were notified.

Brooks was remanded until February 12, at which point the matter will be mentioned and outstanding statements presented.
