WESTERN BUREAU:
Two St James men accused of stealing another man's car for scrap parts last year, had their bails extended in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court last Thursday.
Adrian Woodstock from Tangle River and truck driver Garnet Hines, from Flamstead Gardens, are charged with larceny of a motor vehicle. They are to return to court on February 20.
Allegations are that on September 10, 2013, the complainant parked his white Toyota Corolla at the Cornwall Regional Hospital in Montego Bay, and on his return 45 minutes after, it was missing. A report was made to the Mount Salem police.
The following day, acting on information, the police went to Tucker, Irwin, and saw Woodstock and Hines scrapping the stolen vehicle. The men ran but were subsequently held.
Clerk of the court Natalie Malcolm told presiding magistrate Wilson Smith that the police's chain-of-custody statement, concerning the forensic certificate, was still outstanding.
"We'll mention this case on February 20," said Smith, before extending the two defendants' bail.
